Easter has always been my favorite holiday.
Even as a kid, I loved the low-stress, high-reward energy of Easter: my mom hiding our baskets around the house, biting the head off a hollow chocolate bunny, and waiting—impatiently—for spring to finally arrive.
But since stepping into my spiritual path as a medium, Easter has taken on a whole new level of joy.
I playfully call myself a “recovering Catholic,” and while some people in my life might wonder how my spirituality coincides with traditional religion, I actually feel closer to my Catholic roots than ever before. I work with angels regularly in the Spirit World, I’m warming up to the idea of Christ-consciousness as a tool for elevation, and I’m completely obsessed with Jesus’ most misunderstood disciple: Mary Magdalene.
If you’ve listened to my podcast, Under the Moon Gate, you’ve probably heard me go on about Mary Magdalene for days—and for good reason. She wrote what became the most copied and most revered gospel not included in the Bible. She was also famously mislabeled a prostitute by Pope Gregory I in a 6th-century homily—an effort to diminish her power and influence.
To me, Mary Magdalene represents the bold women history tries to forget: overlooked, silenced, and often scorned.
But what I love most about her is her relationship to the resurrection.
Most Catholics know Mary was the first witness to Jesus’ resurrection—Easter’s central miracle, the moment that cements Christ’s legacy as the one who died for humanity’s sins.
And I do love this story—but not for the reason you might think.
According to Mary’s gospel, the resurrection begins not with a stone rolled away, but with a vision:
Peter said to Mary, “Sister, we know that the Savior loved you more than all other women. Tell us the words of the Savior which you remember—what you know, that we do not, because we have not heard them.”
Mary answered and said, “What is hidden from you, I will proclaim to you.”
— The Gospel of Mary, Chapter 5, Verses 5–7
I love this moment because it reinforces what Megan Watterson teaches in Mary Magdalene Revealed—that Mary knew things the other disciples didn’t. She was Jesus’ partner and confidant, entrusted with teachings, visions, and truths no one else received.
The gospel continues:
And she began to speak to them these words: “I,” she said, “I saw the Lord in a vision, and I said to Him, ‘Lord, I saw you today in a vision.’ He answered and said to me, ‘Blessed are you that you did not waver at the sight of Me. For where the mind is, there is the treasure.’”
I said to Him, “Lord, how does one see the vision—through the soul, or through the spirit?”
The Savior answered and said, “One does not see through the soul, nor through the spirit, but through the mind which lies between the two—that is what sees the vision, and it is [...]”
— Chapter 5, Verses 8–10
The next verses—11 to 14—are missing.
This section is stunning. Mary doesn’t say she saw Jesus physically emerge from the tomb. She says she saw him in a vision. Just like mediums or clairvoyants experience the unseen: not with the eyes, but with the mind between the soul and the spirit.
As I’ve deepened in my own practice, I’ve come to understand the myths and cultural blocks people have around mysticism. Pop culture and movies make it seem like psychic visions happen in 3D—like someone appearing right in front of you.
But as Mary says in her gospel—and what I teach in my intuitive workshops—you see “in the mind.” It’s subtle. It takes practice to cultivate. And it’s available to everyone.
It’s no surprise to me that the missing verses likely contained teachings on how to connect with the other side. But here’s the truth: you don’t need a lost gospel to find your own connection to Spirit.
You just need to close your eyes, take a few deep breaths, and trust the wisdom in your heart.
It’s not as complicated—or as “otherworldly”—as the Church or culture might have led you to believe.
You already hold the magick within.
So this Easter, whether you celebrate or not, say a prayer for the women who tell the truth. And remember Mary Magdalene.
With love from the garden,
